<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText">Primary Purpose <br> <br> Energy industry experience with a focus on project finance, including LNG projects. Experience with project development and a broader debt finance background (e.g., commercial banking, export credit agency experience, as well as capital markets experience a plus). <br>Position will interface with colleagues across Sempra Infrastructure offices in the U.S. and Mexico, with an expectation that the candidate can independently produce client-ready documents and work with others on complex transactions. Demonstrated interest in project finance, project development and joint venture investments is required, should enjoy the challenge of negotiating and drafting complex documents. The ability to communicate business goals into contract language is preferred. <br>Provide legal support on a wide variety of other transactional matters for Sempra or one of its business units. <br>Excellent at horizon scanning, identifying priorities, and excellent negotiation skills. <br> <br> Duties and Responsibilities <br> <br> <ul> <li>Coordinate, implement and monitor legal services to the Business Unit to facilitate and achieve Business Unit Objectives, including working closely with internal and external counsel, along with the senior managers in the Business Unit itself.</li> <li>Interact with the Business Unit executives and upper management of other client groups.</li> <li>Assist in reporting internally to the Law Department management and/or Business Unit General/Assistant General Counsel.</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).</li> </ul> Education <br> <br> <ul> <li>J.D. or L.L.M. from an accredited law school required.</li> </ul> Experience <br> <br> <ul> <li>7+ years of post-qualification experience in corporate transactional law, with a strong emphasis on mergers and acquisitions and/or joint ventures required.</li> <li>Experience with international transactions or the energy industry preferred.</li> <li>Experience with a well-established law firm and/or a corporate legal department preferred.</li> <li>Significant experience as the “first chair” in large M&amp;A and Project Financing matters, and be confident in managing and directing in-house specialties and other team members preferred.</li> </ul> Knowledge, Skills and Abilities <br> <br> <ul> <li>Able to analyze complex business situations and develop recommendations which meet the company’s legal and business needs.</li> <li>Ability to prioritize conflicting demands from multiple business clients in a fast paced environment while paying attention to detail.</li> <li>Ability to be confident in managing and directing in-house specialties and other team members.</li> <li>Proven communication, and interpersonal skills, ability to work well independently and in a team setting.</li> <li>Ability to interface effectively with all levels of a complex organization; ability to build excellent working relationships within multiple working groups.</li> <li>Ability to travel.</li> <li>Ability to read and write in Spanish is preferred, but not required.</li> </ul> Licenses and Certifications <br> <br> <ul> <li>Member in good standing of a U.S State Bar required.</li> </ul> Other Qualifications <br> <br> <ul> <li>Prefer candidates who desire to work out of our Houston, Texas headquarters, with availability to travel to San Diego, California, Mexico City, Mexico and other locations, but will consider candidates who wish to work out of our San Diego, California offices with an ability to travel frequently to Houston on a regular basis.</li> </ul> Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Protected Veterans/Disabled</div>
