<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText" dir="ltr"><div> <div> We are seeking an attorney to join our Dallas office, to defend lawsuits against GEICO insureds, and represent GEICO in Uninsured Motorist (UM) and Underinsured Motorist (UIM) lawsuits filed in courts of limited and unlimited jurisdictions. </div> <div> Responsibilities: </div> <ul> <li> <div> Conducting legal research and drafting legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda. </div></li> <li> <div> Providing opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department. </div></li> <li> <div> Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions before trial and examinations under oath, and defending by trial or mediation all matters assigned, as applicable. </div></li> <li> <div> Keeping clients and claims department informed on the status of cases. </div></li> <li> <div> Travelling as necessary to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences. </div></li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Qualifications: </div> <ul> <li> <div> Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. </div></li> <li> <div> Admitted to the Texas Bar and licensed in good standing to practice law in Texas. </div></li> <li> <div> Up to one (1) year of litigation experience preferred. </div></li> <li> <div> Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the telephone, and through written correspondence. </div></li> <li> <div> Strong organizational, priority setting, and multi-tasking skills. </div></li> <li> <div> Ability to learn and apply technical and procedural information quickly and accurately. </div></li> <li> <div> Ability to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts, or facilitate conflict resolution. </div></li> <li> <div> Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research databases. </div></li> <li> <div> Must meet and maintain licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements. </div></li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Benefits: <br> The safety of our associates is GEICO’s highest priority.
