Duties &amp; Responsibilities: •Legal Counsel: Provide expert legal advice on a variety of individual employment matters, including but not limited to wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour issues, and workplace accommodations. • Policy Development: Work closely with HR and other stakeholders to develop, update, and implement employment policies and procedures that align with current legal requirements and industry best practices. • Litigation Management: Manage individual employment-related litigation matters, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents, as well as representing the company in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings. • Training and Compliance: Conduct training sessions for HR professionals and other relevant staff to ensure a comprehensive understanding of employment laws and regulations, fostering a culture of compliance. • Risk Assessment: Identify potential legal risks and provide proactive guidance to mitigate these risks, including the review of employment agreements, severance packages, and other related documents. • Internal Investigations: Oversee and conduct internal investigations into employee complaints and concerns, ensuring thorough and impartial resolution. • Legal Research: Stay up-to-date with changes in employment laws and regulations, and conduct research to provide timely advice and recommendations to the organization. • Policy Advocacy: Advocate for the company's interests in labor and employment matters with relevant government agencies, industry groups, and other external stakeholders. <br> <b>Minimum qualifications:</b> • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. • Active state bar membership and in good standing. • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an employment attorney at a large publicly traded retail organization or a reputable law firm with a focus on employment law. • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. • Proven experience in managing employment-related litigation. • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. <br> <br> Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
