The Real Estate Practice Group of Arnold & Porter has a Senior Paralegal opening in the New York office. The Senior Paralegal supports the Real Estate Practice Group under the direct supervision of attorneys and specialists. Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to: Training Transaction Assistants (entry-level paralegals). Assisting attorneys with preparing, reviewing, and organizing loan documents, titles, surveys and zoning due diligence materials in anticipation of closing, and handling post-closing matters including closing binder preparation, and transmittals and recordation of loan documents. Reviewing and analyzing title commitments, pro-formas, policies, underlying documents, and preparing title objection letters. Negotiating and clearing titles. Ordering, organizing, and reviewing zoning reports, lien searches, title reports, surveys and zoning materials, environmental reports, and property reports on data site. Reviewing, researching, and analyzing zoning reports/issues and zoning materials, environmental reports, engineering reports, licenses, permits, and service contracts. Drafting and reviewing mortgages, notes, loans documents, deeds, assignments, prepares payoffs and termination documents, UCC’s, estoppels, tax forms, affidavits, leases and ground leases. Preparing abstracts of leases, mortgages, zoning materials, property condition reports, environmental reports, CCR’s and REA’s. Reviewing and preparing corporate formation documents. Attending conference calls and meetings regarding deal progress. Notarizing loan documents. Qualifications: A minimum of a high school diploma, with a bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of title and survey review experience. Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a large workload efficiently and effectively. Highly detail-oriented, including the ability to assess and respond to underlying detail issues and implications. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills, a commitment to professionalism, integrity, and collegiality. Proven ability to multi-task and set priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities, and the ability to work well under pressure. Flexibility to work overtime as necessary, including nights, weekends, and travel, as necessary. Have, or be eligible to apply for a New York Notary commission. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
