Sullivan & Worcester is recognized as a leader in resolving complex state and local tax controversies, particularly in Massachusetts. Our Tax Controversies & Litigation team represents businesses and individuals in disputes with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue and other taxing authorities, at all stages—from audit through administrative appeal and litigation.
We are seeking a mid-level Associate (3–6 years) to join our Boston office. The ideal candidate will have:
- Significant experience with state tax controversy and litigation.
- Familiarity with key state tax issues, including corporate income, sales and use tax, apportionment, addback statutes, and high-net-worth individual residency disputes.
- Experience in litigation, discovery, pleading drafting, trial, audit defense, motion writing is preferred.
- Excellent writing, advocacy, and client-management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.
- Strong interest in professional development with the opportunity to grow toward partnership.
