Job Description: Work closely with attorneys and agents to draft technical descriptions and figures for inventions; conduct academic and patent research; perform complex technical analyses in electrical, software, and mechanical technologies including artificial intelligence and control systems for autonomous vehicles; work under the direct guidance of an attorney or agent in support of highly technical patent prosecution matters; partner with attorneys and agents to obtain and protect intellectual property rights for Chinese Mandarin and English-speaking clients by applying area of expertise to early-stage developments and emerging technologies by reviewing documents and prior art references in Chinese Mandarin and English to formulate a strategy for responding to the office action and writing a response; proactively monitor the docket for items from the USPTO and their corresponding due dates and deadlines; conduct prior art searches in the relevant fields of robotics and machine learning; consult with attorneys to identify scope of inventions by attending inventor interviews, reviewing invention disclosure documents, and preparing detailed descriptions of inventions in patent applications to be filed in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; prepare technical drawings that depict inventions to be filed in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office using software programs provided by the firm; research, review and/or analyze prior art in English and Chinese Mandarin for relevance to client or client competitor technologies in the fields of machine learning, robotics control systems, autonomous vehicles, and other areas of computer science; and prepare concise, accurate, and relevant written technical arguments and/or analyses in line with fundamental intellectual property concepts; communicate regularly with Chinese clients in written and spoken Chinese Mandarin and English regarding the status of their matters and patent applications. Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Applied Mathematics, or Computer Science, and six months of experience working with artificial intelligence.
