Paris - Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)/Financial Markets

Jones Day

Jones Day’s Paris office has an opportunity for an entry- to junior-level corporate ESG associate to become a key member of our practice advising the Firm’s U.S. clients doing business in the EU. The successful candidate will develop expertise and provide innovative solutions addressing key ESG corporate, disclosure and governance requirements, while also working on cutting-edge capital markets and M&A transactions and governance advice, with an overarching focus on the cross-border nature of these practices. We are looking for an intellectually curious and motivated attorney who enjoys tackling challenging legal questions and wants to develop a deep expertise in evolving ESG regulations and legal best practices, as well as U.S. and EU public company disclosure and capital markets transactions. ESG for these purposes includes climate change/greenhouse gas emissions, the crossroads of business and human rights, and supply chain due diligence. Qualified candidates must be fluent in English and French both orally and in writing and be admitted to a U.S. Bar and to the Paris Bar, or be willing and able to sit for and pass the Paris Bar. Ideally, candidates will have 1-3 years of experience in a corporate M&A, capital markets, or ESG practice. Knowledge of and experience in U.S. capital markets is helpful, and an interest (if not actual experience) in ESG matters is necessary.
