Clyde & Co’s Sydney office is currently recruiting for a Special Counsel to work mainly with highly respected Partner, Michael Tooma. You will also work with other partners in the team, including Alena Titterton and Kiri Jervis. All are recognised as market leaders in Legal500, and other ranking guides. This team works on some of the most impressive and high profile matters, presenting you with a fantastic opportunity to take that next big career step. About the Team The team is expanding their capability within Australia providing not only local, but regional and global support to their clients. The practice is supportive and varied with front and back end capability. You will find yourself working with high profile clients across a range of different industries including defence, mining, oil and gas, aviation, transport, construction and telecommunication/broadcasting. The team works closely with clients to futureproof their safety management systems and identify potential issues before they arise. You will therefore need to be confident at building relationships to better understand your clients’ business. Ideal background Experience working in a health and safety team, within a large law firm, international law firm, boutique firm or an in-house position A strong academic background An ability to effectively manage matters Involvement in business development activities including pitch and tender processes, firm-wide pursuits, attending industry events and hosting seminars Genuine interest and ability to grow as a health and safety lawyer A strong team approach with desire to mentor juniors A willingness to build an understanding of clients and develop effective working relationships.
