About the role Our Financial Institutions / Director’s & Officer’s practice in Sydney currently has an exciting opportunity available for an intelligent and motivated Senior Associate as the practice continues to grow. The role includes handling complex financial lines, professional indemnity, class actions. director and officers (D&O) matters and provides coverage and dispute resolution services to both corporate and commercial clients locally, nationally and internationally. Excitingly, you will work closely on market leading matters within the teams of three highly respected and impressive partners, Patrick Boardman, Jacques Jacobs and Janette McLennan. All three are highly ranked by numerous publications in Australia. For example, Patrick is recognised as a leading lawyer for Insurance Law and Professional Malpractice Litigation in The Best Lawyers in Australia 2021 edition. Jacques Jacobs is regarded as a "next generation partner" by Legal500, and Janette is listed as a leading litigation lawyer by the Best Lawyers in Australia 2019-2022, and additionally for class actions litigation in 2022. The nature and size of the team will mean that you will be heavily involved in all aspects of matters. Within the supportive environment, this allows you the autonomy and development opportunity to drive and make a significant contribution to the matter outcome. Further, you will be encouraged to foster and generate client relationships and will have the opportunity to engage in business development frequently. Key skills and experience We’re looking for an ambitious lawyer who enjoys working as part of a dynamic and collaborative team with the following experience: General insurance litigation, financial lines, professional indemnity, and director and officers (D&O) experience is preferred but not essential. Strong academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and written communications skills. Strong time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively. Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skulls, as well as the ability to work independently. Commercial awareness and confidence in building a rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business’ needs and with the assistance of the partner, actively developing these client relationships.
