<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText jobsearch-JobComponent-description css-10og78z eu4oa1w0"><div></div> <div> <div> Position Information </div> <div> Hiring Manager: </div> Head of Tax Strategy <div> Department: </div> Tax <div> Position Responsibilities </div> <div> The Associate Tax Counsel will report to the Senior Tax Counsel on the Strategic Accounting &amp; Finance Team. This person’s responsibilities will include: substantial writing, legal research, tax compliance and oversight on special projects and other matters that arise in the normal course of business. This role will also function as tax counsel and advisor to the following internal clients: </div> <ul> <li> SAF: matters to include tax strategies related to the management companies such as state and local tax, foreign tax, corporate structuring and inbound tax planning.</li> <li> Treasury: matters to include tax-related CLO and USTB compliance issues including advice on significant modifications, debt characterization and ECI rules.</li> <li> Structured Products: matters to include tax issues associated with new bank financings, new CLOs and resets or restructurings of existing CLOs.</li> <li> Tax: matters to include supporting opportunities to improve tax outcomes as well as providing strategic planning and advising on compliance issues.</li> <li> Solutions and Investor Partners Group (IPG): matters to include tax issues associated with new funds or SMAs (e.g., issues including UBTI, ECI, treaty-based structures or investor eligibility questions).</li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Candidate Requirements </div> <div> <i> Qualifications &amp; Experience:</i> </div> <ul> <li> JD degree</li> <li> At least 3 years of relevant tax experience at a leading law firm</li> <li> Skilled in business writing and editing with strong attention to detail</li> <li> Strong analytical skills with experience in prioritization, issue identification and resolution</li> <li> Strong project management skills, ability to review materials quickly and ability to drive and meet deadlines</li> <li> Quick learner who has an ability to grasp complicated financial concepts</li> <li> Ability to learn and excel at day-to-day responsibilities and contribute to driving process improvement, standardization and automation</li> <li> Team oriented with the ability to build relationships and earn the respect of others</li> <li> Ability to handle sensitive matters at all levels of the organization with discretion and confidentiality</li> <li> Ability to anticipate and react quickly to the evolving financial services regulatory environment</li> <li> Demonstrated knowledge base and stature to deliver advice in a manner that is respected and valued by business and staff group leaders and constituents</li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Critical Competencies for Success </div> <div> Our Gold Standards Model defines key behaviors and competencies across 4 dimensions: Leadership, Achieving Results, Personal Effectiveness and Thinking Critically.
