<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText jobsearch-JobComponent-description css-1axw7mm eu4oa1w0"><div> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree plus at least four years of related administrative experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least six years</li> <li>Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service skills and strong attention to detail</li> <li>Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues and/or emergencies arise</li> <li>Able to work independently and with others and with diverse populations</li> <li>Able to handle interruptions, prioritize workload, follow-up and meet deadlines</li> <li>Innovative thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills</li> <li>Proficiency using Google products and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)</li> </ul> <p> Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Advanced degree (JD, MS, PhD, MBA)</li> <li>Six or more years of related legal administrative experience</li> <li>Paralegal Training and/or experience</li> <li>Experience working in a higher education setting</li> </ul> <p> The Associate Patent Administrator is responsible for many areas related to administration of Intellectual Property created by UMN Inventors. This role is critical for the Technology Commercialization office and requires a high level of organization and professionalism.<br> <br> Position Duties and Responsibilities<br> <br> IP Compliance (50%)</p> <ul> <li>Monitor the Tech Comm Patent Admin email inbox, identify what actions need to be take, reply/route emails accordingly</li> <li>Create patent records in the database of record (Sophia) when a new patent is filed</li> <li>Update the database of record (Sophia) for changes to patent records</li> <li>Stay up to date on changes to compliance regulations and rules</li> </ul> <p> Formal Document Administration (25%)</p> <ul> <li>Assist with the collection of Formal Documents related to UMN IP, including assignment, Power of Attorney, Confirmatory Licenses, and others.</li> </ul> <p> Reporting and Collaboration (25%)</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the entry of funding information into the database of record (Sophia)</li> <li>Assist in the preparation of sponsor agency utilization reports for Bayh-Dole compliance</li> <li>Assist with the data corrections and/or updates</li> </ul> <p></p> <p> The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) and Technology Commercialization endorse a “work with flexibility” approach that offers a welcoming and flexible work environment where everyone is inspired to do their best.
