The Role We are seeing a smart, passionate senior coverage litigation lawyer. You will join a broad practice that acts for corporations as well as directors and officers in securities claims and class actions, general corporate/financial services disputes, regulatory investigations, civil penalty proceedings pursued by ASIC and other regulators, and criminal prosecutions arising from alleged misconduct in financial markets. There are three complementary components to this practice: On the pure insurance side, acting in contentious coverage matters in respect of all forms of commercial insurance and reinsurance. Defamation/reputation management; and Representing a range of professionals (including accountants/auditors, financial planners, fund managers and trustees) defending claims of professional negligence, breach of contract and breach of statutory duties. Your primary focus will be in the contentious coverage component, but it will also involve elements of the other aspects of the practice, so experience within general commercial litigation is also required. The nature and size of the team will mean that you are heavily involved in all aspects of matters allowing you to make a significant contribution to their outcome. About You You will be an established Senior Associate lawyer in Australia, New Zealand or overseas, particularly the UK, with the following core competencies: significant experience in coverage disputes gained from a leading private practice law firm a strong commercial litigation background where you have ideally had exposure to some or all of the types of matters detailed above strong academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and written communications skills strong time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently commercial awareness and confidence in building a rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business’ needs and with the assistance of the partners, actively developing these client relationships the ability to lead, delegate and foster a positive team atmosphere.
