<p>We have an excellent career opportunity for a qualified lawyer to join the Company’s U.S. privacy and data protection team. Data is fundamental to our client services at Marsh McLennan. We pride ourselves on being responsible stewards of the large volumes of global data we are entrusted with, and in our thoughtful design of innovative offerings to help clients manage risks. We are looking for a forward-thinking and collaborative lawyer to join our small but mature Global Privacy team. As Privacy Counsel, you’ll report to our Senior Counsel for Privacy and Digital and have the opportunity to engage on interesting privacy issues with a broad cross-section of internal teams at a global Fortune 200 stalwart.</p>

<p><b> Core role responsibilities</b>:</p>
<p></p>
<p> While all members of our privacy team should expect to support a steady flow of new initiatives and projects on emerging privacy issues, we will rely on you to:</p>
<ul>
<li> Serve as a key driver for operationalizing privacy initiatives with business stakeholders, and helping identify ways to streamline and mature our privacy operational model to meet growing business demand</li>
<li> Maintain templates and providing guidance that empowers our commercial lawyers to effectively negotiate privacy terms in global vendor and client agreements</li>
<li> Assist with research, training, and leadership updates on key privacy risks and developments</li>
<li> Help respond to data breaches</li>
<li> Perform privacy risk assessments on new technologies and vendors</li>
</ul>

<p><b> What you need to have:</b></p>
<ul>
<li> BA/BS degree</li>
<li> JD degree</li>
<li> Minimum of 5+ years of experience working in a corporate environment</li>
<li> Knowledge of U.S. and global data protection laws</li>
<li> Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, with a focus on data protection terms and security terms</li>
<li> Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and dynamic environment</li>
<li> Ability to work within a matrix environment, managing relationships with different business stakeholders and to problem-solve effectively across multiple geographies</li>
<li> Strong communication (verbal and written) skills</li>
<li> Strong planning and organization skills</li>
</ul>

<p><b> What makes you stand out:</b></p>
<ul>
<li> Proven experience within a global matrix structured organization</li>
<li> Experience interacting with regulators and/or law enforcement authorities on issues relating to data protection and privacy</li>
<li> Experience in managing the end-to-end process of data subject rights requests, particularly access requests.</li>
<li> Good understanding of information technology systems and their security requirements</li>
<li> Any CIPP certification</li>
</ul>

<li> Experience handling data breaches</li>

<p><br> The applicable base salary range for this role is $112,200 to $224,300.</p>
<p> The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
