Come join Virginia Housing as an Assistant Counsel.<br>This important role will involve reviewing contracts and providing sound legal advice to the business units and senior management at Virginia Housing. The attorney will be expected to exercise good business judgment and be able to implement Virginia Housing policies and processes. The attorney will work in concert with the other experienced attorneys in the Legal Division to ensure that Virginia Housing’s interests are protected.</p> <p>Responsibilities will include:</p> <ul> <li>Providing critical analysis when reviewing contracts, including certain high-risk contracts, and agreements, and clearly conveying any concerns and drafting solutions</li> <li>Identifying issues raised in contracts and agreements and explaining the significance to a variety of Virginia Housing professionals</li> <li>Negotiating, on behalf of Virginia Housing, solutions to disputes over contract provisions</li> <li>Advising managers regarding other disputes with vendors</li> <li>Assisting with the implementation of Virginia Housing policies with regard to contracts and agreements</li> <li>Supporting the Legal Division’s role in risk management as assigned</li> </ul> <p>Qualified candidates must possess:</p> <ul> <li>J. D. degree from a law school accredited by the American Association of Law Schools and an active membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.</li> <li>Experience as a licensed attorney with relevant duties, including experience in complex commercial transactions, managing legal risks, and negotiating complex agreements for the delivery of goods and services</li> </ul> <p>Preferred experience in supporting the creation of taxable and tax-exempt bond issues and other Capital Markets activities.</p> <p>Virginia Housing is one of the nation’s premier housing finance organizations.
