Job Title: Senior Associate/Legal Director Team: Marine Location: Singapore Role Kennedys Legal Solutions is looking for a Senior Associate/Legal Director with at least 7 years’ shipping and trade experience to join its growing Marine team in Singapore. The ideal candidate will have experience handling shipping and international trade disputes in international arbitration and in litigation, preferably with experience in the Far East. Asian language skills would be advantageous. The successful candidate will have experience in: Handling Marine related disputes involving charterparties, contracts of affreightment, bills of landing, ship construction contracts and sale and purchase Marine Insurance, Commodities / International Trade disputes, Shipping / Trade related litigation in Singapore and other jurisdictions in Asia, International arbitrations in London and across Asia Participating in business development, establishing and building client relationships Working to tight deadlines as part of the team Contributing to pursuits and pitches where appropriate and as required. Conducting analysis on cases to develop appropriate legal arguments/solutions that are tailored to the client’s commercial needs Effective case management including advising on trial procedures, interviewing clients/witnesses and advising on appropriate court procedures Conducting legal research using appropriate sources and tools to produce accurate and relevant legal advice (both oral and written) for clients Managing junior associates as required The successful candidate will have the following skills: Minimum 7 years’ of experience Singapore and/or English qualified Excellent written and oral communication, with strong negotiation and drafting abilities. Excellent organisational skills *where a level of experience is indicated, this is a guideline only and represents the amount of time we would usually expect a candidate to accumulate the requisite level of experience.
