Pogust Goodhead is now seeking an Associates and Senior Associate to join our litigation practice in the Amsterdam office. We are looking for candidates who are looking to grow in a firm where they will be given responsibilities in the day-to-day conduct of high-profile, complex litigation cases. The ideal candidate will have cross-border litigation experience in proceedings before the Dutch courts acquired at a top-rated law firm in the Netherlands, with a keen interest in one or more of the following fields: Environmental law and environmental protection; Human rights law and/or supply chain disputes; Consumer product liability; Medical product liability; Competition law; Securities law. Role responsibilities and core competencies The role of Associate at Pogust Goodhead will consist of: Working with the team (Associates, Senior Associates, Legal Directors and Partners) on large, complex and fast paced contentious cases, including multi-jurisdictional disputes Participating in the management of case strategy and maintaining communications with external parties, clients, and co-counsel Conducting research, drafting and reviewing of legal submissions, memoranda and other documentation Managing meetings effectively by setting clear agendas Developing and maintaining relationships with external counsel, expert witnesses, financial partners and other external parties Managing legal documentation and demonstrating de effective case management Assisting the firm in achieving its professional objectives Contributing to Pogust Goodhead’s business development, including raising the firm’s profile by partaking in marketing activitiesWhat you’ll bring to Pogust Goodhead Essential Master’s degree in law (with civiel effect) Bachelor’s degree in Dutch law Completed professional training (beroepsopleiding) Fluency in English (written and oral) 3 - 6 years’ experience in litigation gained at a reputable law firm in the Netherlands Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand the clients’ needs and an ability to adopt the best-case strategy Great attention to detail and accuracy to produce work which is consistently of a high standard Very strong organisational skills, file management and time/record keeping Confident communicator able to work calmly under pressure Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by previous collaborative work with external and internal parties A demonstrably flexible approach to work to ensure client deadlines are met and clients are communicated with efficiently Empathy and passion for the clients we represent Desirable Master’s degree in Dutch (civil) law Experience in class actions / collective redress Experience in pro-bono or social justice / human rights workPogust Goodhead employee commitment At Pogust Goodhead we believe in championing personal growth and achievements, but first and foremost, we are also a team, and a team is strongest when everyone feels that they are supported and valued as individuals.
