About Stoel Rives and the Technology & Intellectual Property Practice Stoel Rives’ Technology & Intellectual Property practice is a multidisciplinary group that includes talented professionals with experience in business, regulatory law, and litigation related to intellectual property rights (patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets). Our patent prosecution team helps clients secure patent rights globally and provides strategic counseling so clients can enforce and monetize their IP assets. As a patent prosecution associate on the team, you will develop and hone your patent drafting skills and your ability to provide sound technical, legal, and business advice to our clients. The Skills Needed to Be Effective in This Role We don’t expect one human to embody all these skills. But if you have some of these key skills and are willing to learn, we encourage you to apply. 5+ years of experience with complex high technology and IP related transactions, including licensing agreements, M&A, and commercial agreements, or 5 or more years of experience in high technology patent prosecution or litigation (required) BS or MS degrees in electrical engineering or computer science (preferred) Experience with privacy and data protection (preferred) Uncompromising commitment to professional ethics, client service, and team success; Strong communication and writing skills, including the ability to listen actively, think critically, and communicate complex concepts concisely to multiple audiences; Excellent judgment and ability to make clear decisions; Capacity to drive thoughtful, risk-optimized, solution-oriented, legal advice weighing real and theoretical business risks, to help the business make informed decisions; Strong contract drafting, collaboration, teaming, and negotiation skills; Ability to prioritize and execute tasks for multiple complex projects simultaneously; Self-starter with a commitment to excellence; Desire to invest in yourself and your career; Desire to develop client relationships; Detail oriented and ability to produce client-ready documents; JD from an accredited law school (required); Membership in good standing in the AK, CA, DC, ID, MN, OR, UT, or WA bar (required). How You Will Live Life Well at Stoel Rives: Compensation, Benefits, and More! The pay range for this position is $194,000 - $215,000+; however, the base compensation presented to a candidate may vary based on skills and overall experience. This salary range is based on market location. In addition to base compensation, Stoel Rives has a total rewards program that includes an annual discretionary bonus and rich benefits offerings.
