About the role We are working with one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies (US headquartered) to find an experienced and commercial employment lawyer to join their Australian team for a period of 6-months. Due to significant growth in Australia across production, brand development, channel development, theatrical movie distribution and home entertainment, our client is looking for an experienced employment lawyer to join the team and continue in this exciting growth journey. While this role covers all areas of employment law, there is a key focus on Fair Employment Practices (including investigations and workplace training), employment law, employment contracts, labour relations and immigration. This exciting role could be five or four days per week and can be worked remotely. Successful applicants will have: A right to work and reside in Australia Qualified to practice in Australia – unrestricted Experience as an employment lawyer in a top-tier practice Experience in the media and entertainment industry Experience in COVID-19-related employment law, highly desirable Strong technical knowledge and experience in a common law jurisdiction is preferred Have a willingness to engage with Peerpoint as a casual employee or via an Independent Legal Practice Self-starter with a commitment to building a career as a consultant and a drive to achieve at a high level whilst working as a consultant Adept at leading or working within complex multi-functional, multi-national project environments Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels, building strong relationships internally and externally Client service-focused, with exemplary client service ethic and commitment Strong commercial/business acumen Resilient, adaptable, autonomous and highly credible Advanced organisational skills and diplomacy Why be a Peerpoint consultant? As a Peerpoint consultant you can have the opportunity to work: In-house with one of our clients - one assignment could be stepping into a team to support a project, while another a senior manager role tackling regulatory change. Assignments can range from two to twelve months in duration and are usually worked four days’ per week. In the Allen & Overy practice on an ad-hoc basis, supporting teams when needed or joining them for fixed periods to work on a deal. We only take you on when we see a demand for your particular expertise, making sure there is a good chance we can provide you with work on an on-going basis.
